CHARLESTON, S.C. (Dec. 22, 2011) – US Club Soccer has announced the details of two Spring 2012 id2 Program Training Camps, each of which provides an opportunity for the country's elite youth soccer players to be identified and scouted for possible inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs, while receiving high-level coaching and other information designed to speed and enhance their individual development.
The two spring id2 Program Training Camps will be held March 15-18 at the WRAL Soccer Center in Raleigh, N.C., and April 19-22 at UC Irvine in Irvine, Calif. The two camps will include boys born in 1998-99 and girls born in 1997-98, with the age groups for the camps selected in order to more closely align with U.S. Soccer’s scouting priorities.
US Club Soccer encourages coaches to recommend players with national team potential for inclusion in the id2 Program via the online Player Recommendation Form. Early recommendation is encouraged to ensure that recommended players have the greatest chance to be more thoroughly evaluated and scouted. These recommendations will be used to supplement US Club Soccer’s scouting network of key scouts observing league games, competitions, and other events throughout the country.
Within the id2 Program, US Club Soccer also operates more regionally-based Player Development Programs (PDPs) for top players within US Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues, and selected other US Club Soccer-sanctioned premier leagues. These PDPs are operated directly by US Club Soccer, or are sanctioned and closely controlled by US Club Soccer with operations handled by selected staff from the local leagues.
US Club Soccer will hold a pair of PDP events in Southern California in early March for boys born in 1999. The first will be held March 3 at Bell Gardens Sports Park in Bell Gardens, Calif., while the second will take place March 10 at Aviara Community Park in Carlsbad, Calif
